TESTIMONIALS

During its 15 years of experience, USIMM worked with a multitude of the industry’s key players. Here are testimonials by some of our collaborators.

RINO CÔTÉ

ARTIST

USIMM was an important partner in the realization of my “Serendipity” project—integrating art and architecture (as part of Quebec’s 1% program). The work now stands in the Atrium of the Sherbrooke University Campus in Longueuil, Quebec.

My major concern was being able to get parts to the foundry on time. By using the 3D scanner technology and custom machining, and always according to my demands, USIMM shortened the delivery time for my parts considerably—giving me more time to focus on the artistic aspect of the project. The parts therefore got to the foundry on time.

ANDRÉ DESJARDINS

ARTIST

I called on the services of USIMM for my monumental work “To Open.” The company helped enlarge my original work and manufacture the object that served as a model.

Their personalized and professional 3D digitization and machining services saved me a lot of time on the project.

This was the first large-dimension project I’ve carried out, and USIMM’s expertise was a great help in opening up the possibilities to me for future monumental works.

PATRICK BELZILE

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, MONTREAL OPERA

As technical director of the Montreal Opera, I have used the services of USIMM to produce decor items for various set design projects.

The team was very helpful in accomplishing several projects with short deadlines due to the complexity of the set, such as in our 2009 production of Macbeth, in the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier of Place des Arts.

For nine years now and in various positions, I have relied on USIMM’s expertise, and I wouldn’t hesitate in the least to recommend them.

We have produced numerous custom designs in the past four years and are always seeking to outdo ourselves and be ever more distinctive.

USIMM helps us excel, and its range of services doesn’t limit us to simple designs—we can really be creative.

MARCEL MATHIEU

DIRECTOR OF SALES AND MARKETING, SIMTAB (DIVISION OF RICHELIEU HARDWARE)

Richelieu is proud to be associated with USIMM for nine years now. They are one of our best suppliers and product manufacturers.

Richelieu is a major hardware distributor with over 100,000 products sold in 62 distribution centers in North America, serving more than 70,000 customers.

It is therefore essential that we be able to count on the support and expertise of our suppliers.

USIMM rises to the challenge superbly, respecting the demands of just-in-time delivery of the products they manufacture for us. They offer great flexibility when needed and have always been attentive to our needs. This means we can meet out commitments to our customers.

TRISTANO TENAGLIA

MATERIAL SUPPLIES CAPTAIN, CONCRETE CANOE MCGILL

As part of the Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition (CNCCC), we went to USIMM’s to see if they could quickly produce the main mold of our concrete canoe.

Considering the very short time frame available, we were stunned to receive a flawless final product in such a short time, without sacrificing details and quality of work, at a very reasonable price. This performance really helped our team out when we needed it most and because of USIMM, we will in fact be able to finish the boat both on time and the way we wanted to, and maybe win the competition.

We thank USIMM and hope that we can again work together on future projects!

FRANÇOIS DELANEY

CFD LABORATORIES – SCALE MODEL OF THE OLYMPIC STADIUM

Given the short delay we had to present our project to the government, we would like to comment on the exceptional service and professionalism provided by USIMM’s team.

In particular, they joined our effort by contributing 400 hours of machining time in 10 days with as many hours in programming and implementation.

I would also like to note that all components adjusted perfectly at assembly time—there were no errors!

SYLVAIN MALO

PRESIDENT, ACME SCENERY STUDIO

We are proud to have worked with USIMM in producing the famous hands in our original concept for the TV serie La Voix.

The two 16-foot-high, polystyrene hands were a challenge in themselves, and the deadline was tight.

USIMM saved us time with their 3D digitization and machining service, after simply digitizing one hand to then reproduce the other symmetrically.

USIMM remains an essential and reliable partner for us.

SYLVAIN ROY

PRESIDENT, USINAGE ROY (2000)

Specialized in pattern works, packaging and prototyping, we work in the industrial cosmetic and food sectors. Over the last five years, we relied on USIMM when it comes to projects involving the manufacturing of molds and the 3D scanning service.

With its professionalism and attention to details, USIMM scanned our different types of molds so that we could then remodeled their shapes, sizes, or simply reproduced them by machining tools, on materials such as plastic or wood.

Quality of service, abiding to commitments, rapid reaction time and flexibility, these are the key factors we consider in the choosing suppliers and USIMM has met all of them, all the time!

I would thus like to salute the excellent work of the USIMM team!

MARIE-CLAUDE DERMERS

ARTIST

I had the chance to work with USIMM a few times on different projects to make enlargements of my pieces of art. I recently won a contest organized by USIMM at the last SCVLPTVRE exhibition. It allowed me to spend more time on creation of my sculpture. I have saved a lot of time and I was able to deliver my work faster!

USIMM employees have always been transparent and professional to meet my requests. In addition to give the best of themselves, their accuracy and personalized services allows to established a trust relationship. I intend to do several projects with them again.

Lately, I have benefited of their 3D printing expertise. They replicate one of my piece of work highlighting all details of it. It was a first experience with 3D printing that I would absolutely do again!

JULES LASALLE

SCULPTOR AND MOLDER

I am a sculptor-artist and manager of the Attitudes Enr. workshop. My introduction to Michel Massé and his company USIMM proved more than significant.

A partnership has grown between us in the past three years, through USIMM’s contributions to my projects, whether individual or with other artists and corporate and institutional clients.

In that short time, Michel and his team have helped us accomplish an impressive number of projects through their 3D digitization and machining services with different materials. Several projects could not have happened without their participation, given the very short deadlines imposed on us.

One of USIMM’s strengths is clearly its speed of execution in projects requiring object resizing compared to the manual work we have to do in preparing the original form. We can then work very quickly on the surface modeling and make volume adjustments to the form received in polystyrene or other materials. We have always been very appreciative of the company’s flexibility with regard to our various needs.

Among our projects in cooperation with USIMM are the sculptures “Guy Lafleur” in Thurso, by designer Jean-Raymond Goyer (sculptors Jules Lasalle and Annick Bourgeau; 2013), “Tribute to Women in Politics” at Quebec’s National Assembly (sculptor Jules Lasalle in cooperation with Annick Bourgeau; 2012), the “Louis-Joseph Papineau Memorial” in St-Denis-sur-Richelieu (sculptors Jules Lasalle and Annick Bourgeau; 2012), and “The Eye” at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (sculptor David Altmejd; 2011).

Above all, I look forward to developing new common approaches for our future projects. Thank you to the entire team!
